Beauty tips for Busy Mums

Finding the time for self maintenance can be really challenging when you are running around chasing your children, preparing meals, working, cleaning and doing the school run! Here are some beauty tips for you time-constrained goddesses.
Water -
This beauty tip requires no time at all, just a little discipline and remembering to keep that water bottle with you at all times! The many benefits of H20 include an overall glowing, nourished complexion, brighter eyes, better energy and a healthier you. Water naturally flushes and rids us of toxins, hydrates our bodies and decreases bloating and puffiness. For an extra benefit, add a squeeze or slice of lemon to your water, which is high in vitamin C and a natural diuretic. Lemons are believed to be an aid for bloating, sore throats, nausea and even constipation.
Olive Oil
- We all love extra virgin olive oil for cooking purposes, but did you know it is also a wonderful moisturizer for our skin? Great screen beauty Sophia Loren revealed this beauty tip during an interview, where she claimed olive oil was all she used to moisturize her face … and she looks pretty darn fantastic! Stick to extra virgin olive oil as it is the most pure and contains antioxidants, a great tool for sun damage and skin repair. Try using a small amount after you have washed your face, massaging it into your skin and see the difference!
Silk Pillowcase
- Talk about a time saving beauty tip whilst you sleep! Not only has it been proven that silk pillow cases prevent you getting sleep-lines due to the nature and texture of the fabric's weave, its also a non-absorbent fabric which means your expensive night creams won’t rub off, therefore allowing your face to ‘breath’ and stay hydrated. Silk also banishes bed-head and frizzy hair in the morning, providing you with an instant ready-for-the-office coup. An affordable and easy solution, what more do you want?!

Self Tanner
 - Let’s face it; most of us look better with a healthy glow. These days everyone from L'Oréal Paris to Oil of Olay produce moisturisers with a self-tanning component. It takes about 5 minutes to apply, and the result is a sexy, sun kissed look. Be on the lookout for facial self-tanners, which add a nice golden touch to your face.
Teeth Whitening Strips -
Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. The days of going to the dentist and getting fitted for teeth whitening trays are a distant memory thanks to teeth whitening strips. All you do is apply them before you go to bed and you should see a difference with some even pearlier whites after only a few weeks.
The 10-minute makeup job
 - Looking polished doesn’t need to take hours of time you just don’t have to spare. Here are a few beauty tips in the makeup arena that take about 10 minutes of your day and will leave you looking fresh-faced and classy.
  • Mineral makeup: Practically every makeup line now carries some form of mineral face powder – which gives you nice even coverage on your face as a base and takes about ten seconds to apply with a brush. It doesn’t look caked-on, just adds some colour and balance to your face and doesn’t clog your pores.

  • Mascara: Add a few coats of mascara to really enhance your eyes. Maybelline, CoverGirl and other department store brands carry a wide variety of them, from super volume to thickening.

  • Lip Gloss: Apply some clear or pretty coloured gloss to add some sheen and moisture to your lips.

Eyebrow Shaping - After you’ve dropped your kids off for school, make an appointment at your local day spa or beauty shop for an eyebrow shaping/wax. Cleaning up the eyebrows can do wonders for the shape of your face, your eyes and makes a huge overall difference in your appearance. This beauty treatment is quick and also much less pricey than a facial or massage.
